From families who have been through a session

"We did the Starter Kit session after my father-in-law suggested it β€” and honestly, we should have done it years earlier. We had documents in three different places, some in Thai and some in English, and we genuinely did not know what we had. The session was calm, very organised, and we left with a box that actually made sense. The notes they gave us have already been useful twice since."

"I attended the estate talk on my own before involving the rest of the family. The session was very measured β€” nothing was exaggerated or oversimplified. What I appreciated most was the clear list of official sources they gave me so I could follow up independently. I did find one section moved slightly quickly for me, but I was able to ask questions and they went back over it without any fuss."

"My mother is in her seventies and has been wanting to sort her records for a long time but never quite knew how. We did the Generational Records Programme as a family β€” three of us, across two generations. What struck me was how patient the facilitator was with my mother's pace. By the end, we all understood what was where and what the next steps would be when the time comes. A very gentle process."

"As a British expat who has been in Thailand for twelve years, I had a reasonable idea of how things worked here but I had never sat down and organised my papers properly. The estate talk was exactly right β€” not too basic, not too technical. I came away knowing which questions to take to my solicitor when I see him next month. Worth every baht."

"The Starter Kit was a practical afternoon. We went through everything we had and made a proper system for the first time. I would say if you have a large household with a lot of mixed documents it might take a bit longer than estimated β€” ours ran closer to three and a half hours β€” but the facilitator stayed without complaint and we got through it all. The archive box and labels they provided are still being used."

"I was referred to Estamora by a friend after we had a difficult time dealing with a family estate matter. I wish we had found them before it got to that point. The programme we did was calm, thorough, and β€” I think importantly β€” kept very clearly within the boundary of what they do and don't do. They were never trying to be our lawyer. They were helping us be better prepared for our lawyer. That distinction matters."

Case Studies

Three household situations

A brief look at three typical household situations and what working with Estamora involved. Names changed to protect privacy.

Challenge

Expatriate couple β€” two sets of records, two countries

A British couple in Pattaya had UK and Thai records spread across physical folders, email archives, and a storage unit. Neither could name all the documents they held. They were approaching retirement and wanted clarity.

What We Did

Starter Kit session plus the estate education talk, scheduled a week apart. The first session built their archive system. The second gave them a broad overview of how Thai estate matters work and what UK documents would typically be handled through UK channels β€” with references for both.

Outcome

By the end of the second session, both knew where every document was, had a shared map, and had a list of three qualified professionals to contact β€” one in Thailand, two in the UK. They described the experience as "overdue and unexpectedly straightforward."

"We came out of it with a clearer picture of our situation than we have had in years. The notes Estamora gave us went straight into the archive."

Challenge

Thai family β€” records held only by the eldest generation

A Thai family where the grandmother, aged 74, was the only person who knew where all the family's important documents were kept. Her adult children had never been through the records with her and were concerned about what would happen if she became unwell.

What We Did

Generational Records Programme over four sessions, with the grandmother and two of her adult children. The sessions were paced carefully β€” shorter sessions, more breaks. The focus was on making the grandmother the expert in the room: she led the inventory, and her children learned from her.

Outcome

The household produced a complete record inventory, a clear map, and a written summary of what existed and where. Both adult children described feeling considerable relief. The grandmother described it as "getting things straight while I still can."

"My mother knew exactly what she had. She just needed someone to help her pass that knowledge on to us in a way that would last."

Challenge

Newly arrived expat β€” unfamiliar with Thai estate structure

A German national who had recently purchased property in Chonburi wanted to understand broadly how Thai estate and inheritance matters work before putting any plans in place. He did not yet have a local solicitor and was not sure where to start.

What We Did

The estate education talk, with additional time in the Q&A to cover questions specific to the situation of foreign nationals holding property in Thailand. All answers drew on official and publicly available sources, which were provided in writing. The session also covered the difference between Thai processes and what would typically be handled through German channels.

Outcome

He left with a clear framework, a set of references, and three recommended categories of professional to contact. He returned three months later for the Starter Kit session once his documents were in better shape. He has since referred two colleagues to Estamora.

"I came in knowing almost nothing about how these matters work in Thailand. I left knowing enough to ask the right questions of the right people."
